How The Holy Spirit Works In Us

  Narrow Blows The Wind

  When the shaft of inspiration
     Encapsulates the mind
        Of a Jesus lover.

  Thoughts come at random, forming,
      Fighting to form a question
  Then follows a simple request
Lord what can I do for you?

  Then there is that waiting
     With a calm posture
  Yet an inner excitement
     Yes, waiting to learn more.

  That‘s how it is
     When the Lord calls you
  No loud bells or whistles,
     When the Holy Spirit speaks.

GOD IS MY GUIDING RUDDER

By Frank E. Henrich May 29, 2010

I awoke from 8 and 1 /2 hours of sleep rested. As I walked to the kitchen my mind was starting to become functional and thinking of the new day ahead. The different tasks for the day filtered in and out of my consciousness. Then I thought “There are so many, shouldn’t I plan for some meditation time with God?” I felt bad that my day ahead is crammed with busyness but no meditation time. Then I thought why is it so hard to set aside time to praise God and listen for His instructions and His guiding rudder? Then I remembered that in every task God is with me. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would come to live in me, to help me through life; and He does, in a life I call Presence Christianity. So then I thought, with the Holy Spirit in me as I do my tasks in this busy day ahead, I am being guided by God’s steering hand. Therefore, my work is a form of praise to Him for the blessings of a life dedicated to Him.

Then I realized that God steers in two ways. In a moving life (boat) He uses a rudder. But when in quiet meditation, His guidance is a silent thought, a knowing that filters into my head from Him. Yes, I had to learn to discern and what a painful process that was. Yes, two different ways to guiding me. Then I thought, yes, a boat has to be in motion before the rudder has any directional force. So it is good to sit and meditate but I must not fret as I do my busy things. I can praise God in all things I do while having a moving meditation with my Creator God, my Old Friend. I call Him my Old Friend, for it is easier to love a friend, to unburden your fears and worries to a friend than an all powerful God. Yes, He is both but I prefer Him as an Old Friend. A friend who is with me always. Is a dedicated Christian closer to God than a lukewarm believer? God is close to both , but one recognizes this closeness and cherishes it as great blessing in my life.

So it is time to shove my boat out into the sea of today’s work with my Old Friend at the rudder.

How about you? Are you ready to shove your boat out? I suggest you ask God, our Old Friend to be at your rudder.

Jesus said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!"

Scripture: John 20:26-29 26 Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. He said, "Peace be with you." 27 Then he said to Thomas , "Put your finger here and see my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!" 28 "My Lord and my God!" Thomas exclaimed. 29 Then Jesus told him, "You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who haven't seen me and believe anyway." NLT

The Christma of the river of God  was shown doubting Thomas by Jesus as expressed in the scriptures showing God steers us and uses His guiding rudder in our life as we seek beams of Holy inspiration and gives us spiritual unction and a moving meditation.

We seek beams of Holy Inspiration to us as God steers us with His guiding rudder. He we have a moving meditation, a Christma, a spirutal unction, simular to what doublting Thomas had on the river of God.
