MUSIC IS SOUND CAPTURED IN TIME

Oh! to
hear a new song,
Oh how the soul delights,
A symphony, a marvel, a wonder
A harmony from heaven anew.
But that
is where the newness ends,
Forever more that sound imprisoned
Time confined in the form of notes,
Repeated just the same forever more.
The song is caught in time,
Changing a note is a musical crime,
Even though it is no longer new,
It still captures the strings of our hearts.
The heart bursts
in rhythmic joy,
The ear delights to the sound,
So familiar and mind soothing,
That requires
it be the same, always.
As the music bonds to its notes
So our soul bonds to our body,
They
are companions held in fusion
Held tightly together until death separates.
Soul and body are youthful
mates,
In middle age are very familiar,
Old age limits soul to a weak body,
Eager to leap
to Heaven’s freedom.
When we leave the body confines,
We jump to Heaven with all its delights,
For in this anticipated leap comes hope,
For there, life and music will be anew.
Praise Jesus,
for this hope fulfilled.
