SOON OFF TO PILLOW LAND 

The quiet of the evening invades this my room
  With a stillness that creates a suspended aire
Yes, an atmosphere of relaxed perfume
  One knows it cannot last in this calmed fair.

There is a feeling of a well done, inner glow
  A day completed to its best, but over
Knowing soon the cushion of the soft pillow
  Will carry me into sleep land of deep clover.

Would I want to live this day over if I could?
  No, so pleasurable it was in every way
For tomorrow promises a day of good
  And I desire to joy in its new ways.

So with this evening calm on me firsthand
  I will praise its sense of quietness and peace 
Knowing soon I will leave it for pillow land
  Trusting Jesus to sweeten my dream siesta.

B E D T I M E   P R A Y E R

Oh night of nights!
  Your quiet essence wraps around me,
Sleep beckons me toward the bed,
  Pulling the covers back, I yearn to sleep.

Will you let me, oh night of nights!
  Slip into unconsciousness slumber?
Can my body rest from movement?
  Oh yes, but my mind remains active.

My mind enters into a non-reality,
  Here I need protection from the ugly,
There is only one way I know to have peace,
  It comes only when I am ok with God.

Then come oh night of nights!
  For God and me, well we're ok!
I will shut my eyes and trust Jesus
To hold my mind in check all night.

Praise Jesus and may His light shine thru me.
