CHRISTIAN POEMS AND DEVOTIONALS FOR THE SEARCHING AND WEARY
WELCOME, GOD OF POWER - A CALL FROM GOD WITH THE POWER OF GOD IN CHRISTIAN WORK POEM

PICK UP YOUR MANTLE OF POWER WHEN CALLED !

We pray earnestly for a job from God
In our hearts we yearn to save the lost
Yet when God calls us where are we?
We ask, was that You who called me?

Yes, God calls us to pick up the mantle
For a certain work for his kingdom
Promising a mantle of His power,
Now we choose, accept or deny it.

We ask ourselves was it from God?

How does God move us, we ask others?
Do we get a letter through the mail?
Does a neighbor come sharing gossip?
Oh! no that is not the way God works.

If we expect God to move us on
With a physical nudge we can feel,
I am afraid we have a long wait,
Oh! no that is not the way God works.

Some erect a mental protective canopy
  Seeking insulation from Spirit urges,
How can God touch such an ego?
Be not afraid of God, remove your shield.

It could not be God who called me,
Just some mental thoughts of good things,
My creation, yes God, say it was mine,
Then I can be comfortable in denying.

Oh God, I pray for a discerning soul
So that when You place a mantle on me
I will not be timid and hide in fear,
Help me to discern and move boldly.

   CALLING, CALLING ME

I go into my secret garden
 To see what's growing there,
I see the fruit of love calling
 Calling, calling me there.

I go into my hidden garden
 Peace overcomes me, my spirit,
The chair that sits in the garden.
 Calling, calling me there.

I sit down in my secret garden
Amidst the splendor of the flowers,
It’s like another world is calling
 Calling, calling me there.

While sitting in my hidden garden
I feel the soft breeze around me
The leaves move in silent concert
 Calling, calling me there.

While sitting in my secret garden
My spirit comes alive in me
Like a hot tub bath it soothes me
  Calling, calling me to rest.

Oh, no, must I leave my garden!
Yet, I inwardly know I must,
God has work for me to do now
 Calling, calling me to work.

WHY AM I ALIVE?

For all humans born in this world must seek the answers to the questions, Who am I and what am I doing here and where will I go when I die?

In this world they struggle between believing and trusting in God, as an unseen Spirit and the physical world’s pull for what is true reality and master of the world. God’s anointed are the agents to reveal the truth of His Spirit in power and majesty to all other through the anointing of the Holy Spirit. You prayed for an anointing so fear not God will empower. Now you must remain in the anointing power of the Holy Spirit not your own wisdom.

Jesus is alive not dead. He abides in a Spirit body.

God’s revelation is through a connection that is continuous state from which His urgings pass to His anointed. For the anointed to stay anointed the person must remain in this connection. Avoid substituting human wisdom for God’s leading.

You say I want to do my best for God but I make mistakes. God did not call us to be perfect for we are sinners, but to be servants to His will and desires. It will never be a trip without trails but through them we will be given strength through grace to overcome. Satan will try to destroy our ministry. Stay in the connection, always be right with God. Fear not when you make a decision, for God will not abandon you. Evelyn Underhill spoke of this when she penned:

“Here we are, little half-animal, half-spiritual creatures, mysteriously urged from within, and enticed from without to communion with spiritual Reality. If and when we surrender to this craving and this attraction, we enter thereby - through at first dimly - on a completely new life full of variety, of new joy, tension and pain, offering an infinite opportunity of development to us. Such is the life of prayer as understood by the mystics, and as practiced with greater or less completeness of surrender and reward by all real lovers of Christ.” Quote from Evelyn Underhill

So hold firm to your ministry and serve to our God and Creator
