POEM:
N O T Y E T !
Before reading this poem, it is helpful to picture in your mind a healthy, green
plant with large leaves that is surrounded by a higher and larger semi-open branched shrub . The sun shines in on the leafy
plant, but the shrub protects the plant.
Could Jesus say to you:
Are
you a large leafy plant Yet unfound, Covered from view by a large shrub And rarely
noticed?
When a person catches a glimpse Do they wonder, Yet, as if planned, their attention
Passes away.
You seek to speak for Me With much gusto. Your leaves
been shaped By My training.
Have you learned prayer To practice patience,
Plus Obedience and that waiting On My will?
Has your vain-glory to serve Me
Been purged away, Has the desire to do it big Slipped away?
Once you sought Me to cut
down Your shade shrub, That hides your training and zeal From piercing eyes.
So some great things for Me Could be done, Yet, now the danger of the battlefield,
You’ve learned.
Suddenly the shade is a desirable Surrounding cover, And peace
and stability are sought With diligence.
Yet a call of duty pierces Your
shelter, Muted and nondirectional, You begin to hear.
In your inner ear the words ring
out “Not yet”, The inner peace and comfort shade Is jarred !
Then at times quite unpredictably, You hear Inwardly the silent, soft words, “Do
you love Me”?
With all gusto you say, “Yes, Jesus,” And as with Peter
it happens Three times.
Then after a short lull of time, You hear Three
times the charge, “Feed My sheep.”
You fear the exposure without
Your shrub protection, But there is that greater Call from Me.
So in quiet obedience
you learn To wait, Unknowing of what lies ahead, You rest. Could you respond to Jesus saying:
You
mean Lord, There still is a need for me In your plan?
Let it be done to me,
Remove my shade In your timing, my Lord. Poem

UNSUNG WORKER FOR CHRIST
I am an unsung worker of Christ Because I do His work for Him In a
way that only He knows And that is the way I want it.
To be a known worker for Christ
With press and citizen acclaim, Is indeed a hard Christian walk For humility and meekness sake.
So God was wise to give me now A quiet unsung job to perform For pride & earthly fame have destroyed
The mission of many known doers.
So fellow unknown Christ worker Be content with your
lot and mission For God knows our strength levels And will guide us to a mission field.
Then
you can say:
I am an unsung worker of Christ Because I do His work for Him In a way that only
He knows And that is the way I want it.
My wife when she read this poem Wrote, “Me
Too.” What do you say?

PICK
UP YOUR MANTLE WHEN CALLED !
We pray earnestly for a job from God In our hearts we yearn to save the lost Yet
when God calls us where are we? We ask, was that You who called me?
Yes, God calls us to pick up
the mantle For a certain work for his kingdom Promising a mantle of His power, Now
we choose, accept or deny it.
We ask ourselves was it from God? How does God move us, we ask
others? Do we get a letter through the mail? Does a neighbor come sharing gossip? Oh! no that
is not the way God works.
If we expect God to move us on With a physical nudge we can feel, I
am afraid we have a long wait, Oh! no that is not the way God works.
Some erect a mental protective
canopy Seeking insulation from Spirit urges, How can God touch such an ego? Be not afraid
of God, remove your shield.
It could not be God who called me, Just some mental thoughts of good
things, My creation, yes God, say it was mine, Then I can be comfortable in denying.
Oh God,
I pray for a discerning soul So that when You place a mantle on me I will not be timid and hide in fear,
Help me to discern and move boldly.
