CHRISTIAN POEMS & CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONALS FOR THE WEARY & SEARCHING FOR GOD
YOUR SELF-ESTEEM - YOUR DIGNITY ? AS A CHRISTIAN, HOW DO YOU OBTAIN IT?
Frank Henrich here, two days ago I reread an article I wrote on July 29, 1981. It’s message is still true today, Check me out and read below.

Christian and worldly priorities are different and listed below. From them we obtain our dignity. Where do you stand? Read on and only you will know the result of this simple review of where your dignity rests.

Worldly Priorities

1st – Money ---This is very important and beyond your need for the necessities for life; can become a god to you.

2nd – Position --- If money is not available to one, seek a profession, - doctor – lawyer – teacher; fame is as fickle as the wind.

3rd – Beauty --- If you do not have money or intellect but have beauty; you are still ok until you get old.

4th – Athletics --- If weak in above, you can still be fulfilled; be great in a sport until old.

Christian Priorites

1st - Significance --- You acknowledge God as master of your life. You know of His love and your place as a son or daughter of God.

2nd – Security --- Eternal life is yours. You are saved by the blood of Jesus on the cross.

3rd – Competence --- Thru God’s power, you can do all things.

4th - Service --- You desire to serve God not yourself as you feel lead to bring glory to God through service.

Before when being a Christian was not central in our lives, we identified more with the worldly standards for a successful life. Now, you say, your life is turning upside down. Could it be your priorities are switching? We obtain our self-esteem from a sense of knowing we are fulfilling our priorities. Is your self-esteem coming to you no longer from friends saying “Yes, you are valuable; you are a real person.” Instead do you now seek an assurance from God that your life is pleasing to Him? Congratulations!!

When young I thought my church would be a mediator between God and me. Standing with me before God saying ,"Frank was a good man and a faithful steward". Then I realized that I had to take my own hide to market all alone. The church would help me but I had to stand alone to be judged before God. Thank you Jesus for dying for my sins and opening a way for a sinner like me to eteranl life.  Because of what you did Jeus, I can have joy in my life.

The rubber hits the road when you have started to shift your priorities but your wife, husband or kids have not. Switching to Christian priorities is like opening a gate into another world, more meaningful and peaceful to one's spirit. So move with gentleness helping them to open their gates to a changed self-esteem and dignity in Christ. If in reviewing these above bench marks you feel you need to turn more to God’s purpose in your life, just ask Jesus for help.

In your life you can have significance, security, service to God and servise to other plus competence if you select Christian priorities turning away from making worldy priorities the goals in your life of money, beauty, positon and athletics you can have self-esteem and personal dignity.

  D A Y ’ S    E N D

By Frank Henrich  December 17, 2007

The view out the window darkens,
The lamp gives off a soften glow,
Barb’s voice has a satisfied tone,
The dishes are done; paper read.

The day; a busy one completed,
And yet with so much left undone,
Perhaps to be done tomorrow,
When again time gives us a spin.

My mind calls for reflective thought,
A time to be mellow and quiet,
A time to turn from endless chores,
A time to tell Barb; I love you!

The end of day with its tasks done,
Has filled my room with satisfaction,
For a day; completed with gusto
Now awaits the long night of rest.

May the peace of our Lord Jesus fill you.
