How to know God's Standards

By Frank E. Henrich March 21, 2009

How am I to know God's standards
For my life here on earth?
How am I to live a life pleasing
That will lead me to eternal heaven?

So many tell me they know the way
And in my life time I have followed them,
One person said do this and don't do that
Place emphasis on this or that.

When I review the varied pattern of my life,
I wonder at all the different path courses
But it all comes down to a basic question,
How do I know God's standards?

Why after 77 years of life, should my mind
     Become focused on the importance
Of how God instructs his people to walk,
In His grace and a most sinless way?

Today, we have the written word, the Bible,
What a wonder indeed it is of God's ways,
For God gives us His standards for us to follow
Knowing we are weak and need His guidance.

Praise our God who wants His light to shine through us.

Lord, guide us in helping others as they carry their crosses.

PEACE FILLS US WHEN GOD SPEAKS TO US THRU THE SCRIPTURES

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE FROM ISAIAH 58:9-11

"If you take away the yoke from your midst,
the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
10 If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy
the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the
darkness, And your darkness shall be as
the noonday. 11 The LORD will guide you
continually, And satisfy your soul in drought,
And strengthen your bones; You shall
be like a watered garden" NKJ VERSION

End of Scripture quote. We ask,
"Could the Lord be saying to us?"

Why do you not take time to reflect?

For in reflection I speak to you.
Must you always be talking? Doing?
Too busy to listen to me.”

Shame on you, consider your loss.

Close your eyes,
   Quiet your mind,
Reflect on My goodness
   Then you will rest
As I quicken you.
   All cares will evaporate
Your soul will be at peace.
   And I will instruct you
Yes, guide you continuously
Just as Isaiah said I would.

Let us respond, "Yes Lord!"
Close our eyes
   Quiet our minds
Reflect on His goodness
   And quietly be lead.
