PRECIOUS JESUS TAKE MY HAND,
GUIDE ME NOW
Did you ever hear of Thomas Dorsey? Probably not,
so we can call him one of us, you know, the non-famous. Well, Thomas was a hymn writer. In 1932, he lost his wife and child
in childbirth and he was depressed. He lost his will to live! Then as he sat at the piano, suddenly, Jesus gave him
the music and words to a new hymn, and joy returned to his life. Can't you in the theatre of your mind see him
at the piano trying to play the new hymn with the tears of joy flooding his face. I can! What was the hymn, you ask? He called
it Precious Jesus, Take My Hand. The first verse reads:
Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let
me stand
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home
Thomas Dorsey could again face the hum-drum of life. How about you?
Author’s note on article: The idea to write this article came as I was reading the classic book, Medieval People
by Eileen Power. In this 1924 book, the author describes the medieval life on a daily basis in detail of persons of different
life styles such as a farmer, nun, and merchant; all the common folk like you and me. The constant thread is that each person
had to make his way in a world that he did not fashion, but that demanded certain things of him to exist. So I realized that
whatever the lording group is called, its function is still the same, protection to live a sane life at the price of obedience.
Although the author, Eileen Power, stops there, my mind did not. I realized the wonderful way that God allows us to live above
this earthly lordship with hope and so you have the article above. I recommend that you read her excellent book for I was
reading the tenth edition of the book printed in 1963. God bless you all, you non-famous people.
Ps 139:23-140:1 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. NKJV

WHERE CAN
I FIND MY DAD ? (GOD)
By Frank E. Henrich 1988
I
am told to be happy
With the blue of the sky
With the green of growth
The sight of the visible
cross
And the hearing of the proclaimed Word.
I am told to be happy
With the vibrations of
music
With the emotions calmed with love
With the painless feeling of medicine
Inwardly and outwardly
clothed with peace.
But this does not fill me,
Where is fuel from my Dad?
Oh! Dad, I can’t
beckon you,
I can’t buy your presence,
Humbly I ask, fuel me Dad.
The rose cross window
recalls Jesus
The sky projects the blue of life
The trees radiate the green of growth
The
sermon echoes sound from the walls
But what tells me of Dad?
Music soothes my harassed mind
Wife’s love calms my bruised emotions
Medicine heals my aching body
But great as all those things
are
What tells me of my wonderful Dad?
If I know life thru perception
If my inner moods are
soothed
How, then, am I fed spiritually?
Where can I find my Dad?
Yes, how, then can I find Him?
Oh! Dad, hear my plea
Fill me with your presence.
Jeremiah 29:13-14 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all
your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity. NKJV
