MEDIEVAL CHRISTIAN PICTURE AND POEM

Navity

          J E S U S  B I R T H   P O E M

Oh Holy Infant You came to save us,
Oh Holy Child You arrived so lowly,
Beaconing a light of salvation in our hearts
Yes, that fills the spirits of lost souls.

Oh Holy Jesus, so little in the manger,
The Son of God wrapped in cloth,
Sent out into this world to save sinners
And bring them home to the Father.

So as You came physically on Earth
Now please enter in us spiritually
So that we are filled with Your love
Serving You here with Your peace.

And when our twilight years arrive
And the horn blows for our souls
Remember we chose Your salvation
Bring us home in Your mercy.

CONCERNING THE TOP IMAGE: This is Frank Henrich, your web master, in 2007 I became very interested in the art found in medieval Bibical illustrations.  I viewed over a thousand of these images, selecting some of them as artwork to be used with my Christian poems and articles.  Here I am sharing with you one of these beautiful images painted by monks and artists. We are blessed for here on the web thousands can see its beauty. The artist was Guillio Clovio and it is called the Adoration of Shepherds and Angels. The original copy is held at the New York Public Library.  It is a wonderful picture to view.  Reflect on each of the sections of the picture remembering God's great gift of salvation through Jesus's birth. I will as the months go by place other images in the web page for you to see, so come back every month.       THE GODLY POEM

Oh Lord, when is a poem inspirational?
Do I have the right to call a sonnet
Inspired or do only You mark such a poem?
Oh Holy Spirit come touch my poems.

When I write of Jesus my Saviour so great,
Can hope that my verses of prose,
Yes, my poem, will have the power of God!
Only when the Holy Spirit moves the words.

Oh, if only all my poems could stir the life
Of hurting souls searching for the saving Jesus!
But I am a man and powerless but God used
As a conduit for the Holy Spirit touches.

If only I could sit all day and write continuously
Of the glory of God, our wonderful Trinity,
But to do so requires a greater blessing than mine,
Oh God bless and sent more poets into the world.

Please do this so the saving message of salvation
Will be sent out in its outward reach of hope,
And we our servant poets will have a part to play
In this wonderful message of eternal salvation.

Praise God that He loves us so much
That He sent His only Son to die for us,
Thank you Jesus for coming and sending down
The Holy spirit to guide back home to God.

THERE IS A LIGHT ON THE HORIZON

(This poem has been made into a hymn)

There is light upon the horizon
And it beams there for you and me
Oh yes there is a light on the horizon
And it calls you and me.

It is the Lord Jesus beckoning us
To come to him and pray
Oh yes there is a light upon the horizon
That shines our way to Him.

Others told me of His glory
And said I should search for him
Oh yes there is a light upon the horizon
That shines our way to Him.

I searched all these many years
  Hoping to find my way
And then there came on the horizon
  That wonderful wonderful light.

Can I describe its beauty
  The spender of my gaze
Oh yes there is a light upon the horizon
That shines our way to Him.

When first I did see it beam
My whole being froze in delight
For yes, there is a light upon the horizon
That leads our way to Him.
